While out running in the 90 degree weather,where I have most of my creative breaktroughs, I had this thought:

Weren't some of those old Hannah-Barbara cartoons cooler then we gave them credit for?

For example: The Space Ghost revamp of 2004 by DC comics. The whole thing was an origin story that updated subtle aspects of the sory like no monkey-wearing-a-mask, and Zorak being an analog of the Xenomorph from Alien.

It was full of murder, revenge, betrayal, and huge ariel battles between The Ghost and and army of giant insects.

It was Boss Hog.

As my mind wandered, I thought of other cartoons that could work with an update. That's the Jam folks:

Take a cartoon from your childhood and update it as if you were behind the reins. If you wouldn't change a thing, so be it.
All submissions must be in a perfect square.

The job market sucks currently, what with the recession and all. Don't have as much time for drawing.

I've just been thinking...(this is all in humor)

Pokemon doesn't sit well with me for a number of reasons:

1. Normally, if two human being force two animals to fight each other in an arena for glory, they would get arrested and likely be lynched by PETA.

But in the Pokemon world, it's considered an honorably profession. Hell, kids leave home at the age of ten to travel the world all alone, with nary any parental supervision, to hunt and capture wild animals, some of which can breath FIRE!, and then bend these creatures to their will.

2. I'm kind of noticing some undertones of slavery. Hear me out: Pokemon, some of which are capable of human-level intelligence if the cartoon has taught us anything, are taken from their natural habitats to fight and do heavy-lifting for their "masters" with their only payment being food and shelter. Think about it.

On the same note, there is an Uncle Tom situation here too: Pokemon are forced by their trainers to capture other Pokemon, somewhat similar to the concept of southern slaves who would be used to track and capture escaped slaves.

Also, Pokemon like Lucario, Jigglypuff and Pikachu in Super Smash Brothers are able to use Pokeballs to attack their opponents by using their fellow Pokemon to attack.

3. How come humans are the dominant species in a world populated by dragons, ghosts, psychics, rock monsters, fire-breathers, and shape shifters. Completely defies all aspect of Darwinism.
